Brief Profile
Comrade Benjamin Anthony is a dedicated Nigerian Unionist who hails from Sanga local government, Kaduna state. He embarked on his civil service journey with the Federal Housing Authority, Abuja, in 1996, following the completion of his education at Kaduna State College of Education Gidan Waya 1993. While in the service of Federal Housing Authority, he went to university of Abuja where he obtained a Bachelor degree in Sociology in 2007 then Masters degrees in Conflict Security & Development from Nigeria Defence Academy (2014) and Industrial Sociology from the University of Abuja (2015).
Comrade Benjamin Anthony’s academic achievements have been noteworthy. He also holds Diploma in Human Resources Management and membership from the prestigious Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN). He attended various trainings from institutions viz: Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Micheal Imodu Labour Institute, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Centre for Management Development, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Japan International Labour Foundation, University of Jos etc.
Comrade Benjamin Anthony, a seasoned unionist, has held various prominent leadership roles within the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE). His journey in Trade Union leadership began at the Federal Housing Authority, where he served as an acting branch Secretary from 1996 to 1998, followed by roles as Branch Secretary (1998-2002) and Branch Chairman (2002-2008). Additionally, he held positions such as Secretary Administration FCT Council (2004-2005), Vice Chairman FCT Council (2005-2009), Zonal Treasurer (2005-2009), and National Secretary Finance (2009-2013).
From 2013 to 2017, Comrade Benjamin Anthony served as the Chairman of the FCT Council and has been holding the esteemed position of National President since 2017. His dedication to the labor movement also extends to the Nigerian Labour Congress, where he served as National Auditor from 2018 to 2023 and currently holds the position of National Vice President from 2023 onwards.
Moreover, in the past, he assumed the role of acting Chairman of the National Public Service Joint Negotiation Council for the federal capital territory (FCT) in 2016-2017 and has been serving as the National Chairman (Trade Union Side) since 2021.
Throughout his career, he has actively participated in numerous national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars focused on labor/industrial relations, trade union administration, leadership, and industrial conflict. Additionally, he has authored several unpublished papers on topics related to trade unionism and workers’ welfare in Nigeria.
Comrade Benjamin Anthony’s profound expertise in unionism, labor, and pension matters, coupled with his impressive educational background, has enabled him to make significant contributions across various domains. As a compassionate leader, he prioritizes the interests of workers and remains happily married with children.
