ALIYU

Comrade Aliyu Mohammed is a committed labour activist who hails from Bauchi local government area of Bauchi state. He began his career in the civil service with Hospital Management Board in Bauchi State. In his quest to further develop himself, he proceeded to Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic for a year programme of Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) in 1997 and proceed to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and obtained a BSC. Hons in Economic in 2002. His Trade Unionism interest began during his university days, where he became the Chairman of Bauchi State Students (NUBAS).

He was a branch Secretary and Chairman of Hospital Management Board and later become the State Secretary finance of AUPCTRE before his employment as the State Secretary Assigned to AUPCTRE Bauchi State Council in 2004. The Union (AUPCTRE) trained him in different capacity in order to mold him for Trade Union challenges ahead.

Comrade Aliyu Mohammed participated in Bauchi and Jos Harmattan School organize by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in 2003 and 2004. In the year 2007 the Union through the NLC send him to university of Jos where he obtained a Certificate in Labour Laws and Industrial Relation. Comrade Aliyu Mohammed also attended Micheal Imodu National Institute of Labour study to obtained a National Diploma in Labour Laws and Industrial Relation from the year 2014, he then proceed to University of Cape Cost Ghana for Executive Post graduate Certificate in Labour Policy Studies. He also obtained a post graduate Diploma and Masters degree in Public Policy and administration from Bayero University Kano State, Nigeria in 2017.

Comrade Aliyu Mohammed also attended a Trade Union courses on capacity building for Trade Union consciousness organized by AUPCTRE National Secretariat in 2012.

In 2014 he attended center for regional and internal Development Course in the United Kingdom (UK) on Building Effective Harmonious Industrial Relations in contemporary working environment.

As a season Trade Unionist, Comrade Aliyu Mohammed held several leadership position, he was State Secretary Council III of JNC Bauchi State, State Secretary State Joint Public Negotiation Council (JPSNC), State Chairperson State Public Service Negotiation Council till 2016 when he was transferred to National Secretariat of the Union as Deputy Head of Department Public Relations in the  Department of Public Relation of the Union and later posted to Head Finance and Accounts Department from 2018 till date.

Comrade Aliyu Mohammed’s extensive expertise in Trade Unionism and labour affairs, combined with his impressive educational background, has enabled him to contribute significantly in various fields.
Aliyu maintains a fulfilling married life with happy children.
